Finding Inner Peace: Bringing The Work of Byron Katie into Nature
~~~Women's Holistic Canoe Retreat~~~
"This
was such a rich experience to be in a beautiful, natural setting coupled
with Jen's insights and caring as an organizer and facilitator. Her
weaving of the times of stillness and presence with Byron Katie's work
During this retreat, we will introduce the work of Byron Katie as means of creating true inner peace of mind. If you are contemplating going on this trip, notice if have you had any of these painful thoughts? ”I can’t do this…I won’t know anyone…I’ll fail…My needs won’t be met…I don’t have enough time to do this…I’m not worth it…I won’t be safe…I’m not strong enough”..."I can't afford this..." Thoughts like these travel in our minds, bodies and lives hundreds of times a day until they are questioned, are met with understanding, like a friend that shows me the way Byron Katie, founder of The Work, has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. When Katie appears, lives change. She taught me how a year ago at her nine-day School for The Work, an intense and life-changing journey through your own mind. This simple yet powerful process of inquiry, called The Work, helps those to find again and again that their stressful beliefs—about life, other people, or themselves— radically shift. Join us on this unique and gentle wilderness living retreat for women blending an outdoor experience with the tried and true method of releasing stress and bringing in more long lasting peace through The Work of Byron Katie. We will spend two days at Nurture Through Nature's green retreat center, located in Denmark, Maine, followed by four days of canoeing and camping along the quiet shores of one of Maine's pristine waterways, Flagstaff Lake, part of the Northern Forest Canoe trail connecting New York to Maine by ancient waterways traveled by native peoples before our time.
A great place to observe wildlife, Maine's sprawling Flagstaff Lake offers
an unforgettable wilderness setting. Paddlers view the Bigelow range which
includes many of Maine's highest mountain peaks, where the Appalachian
Trail crosses a distant ridge line. Sandy beaches ring much of the
shoreline. Gazing up at the towering
mountains above will surely bring a smile to your face and spirit as you
open to it. We will
explore this beautiful waterway on morning or evening paddles to provide a
balanced and restful retreat experience. We also will share in
meditation and gentle yoga circles. We will set up camp at one-two
campsites so that we have lots of opportunity to nest, rest and
experience a wilderness experience without the fuss of packing and setting
up camp in a new location every day. |
