JHello Lovely People J

Happy New Beginnings to you.
May this day find you breathing, smiling,
peaceful & warm from the inside out.

Welcome to this new moment and this winter newsletter from Jen at
Nurture Through Nature.

We had an excellent 2007, from Utah to Northern Maine, I had the honor of witnessing so many of you experience the landscape, inner and outer, with grace, presence and zest. In addition, people from all over the country came to stay in our sweet one-room cabin for their own private retreat and I am excited to have the second,  Thoreau's cabin, open to you all this spring.

I thank all of you retreaters from the bottom of my heart for joining us and rejoining us, expanding the circle, for showing such kindness and for helping me to see the world with new eyes.

To honor all that it has taken to enter our 10th year, I am taking the winter and spring to 'go in' and gain insight in this creation process. I am preparing to go on a Vision Quest in
Death Valley, CA this March. My intention for going into the desert is to be in complete solitude for an extended time, and see who I find there. I will be joining a group of 10 on the quest with Sparrow Hart of Vermont. This is also part of my preparation for offering Vision Quests here on this mountain as part of our regular retreats offerings. It feels like the path is forking in that direction and all are welcome who want to open that door.

After the quest, I will head further west to staff Byron Katie's 9 Day School for The Work. I highly recommend this transformative experience and would love to see you there! I am a practitioner of The Work and am enrolled in the Certification Program to be a Licensed Facilitator--a 2-4 year intensive. My heart's desire is to help others find peace and true freedom as I continue to find my own through deepening my own practice of The Work.   You can learn about The Work at www.thework.com and http://www.ntnretreats.com/personalservices.html . I am here for you for a free phone facilitation if you would like to try it first hand. It is like a meditation into the mind; for the love of truth.
Clarity is the result for those open to it.

As part of my re-creating, I am taking this year off from overnight holistic canoe retreats. I am keeping my focus close to home and will be offering a variety of weekend retreats and custom getaways here at Nurture Through Nature.  Quiet day paddles will be part of the regular offerings here. I plan to offer canoe trips again in 2009 and will post them periodically on the calendar page of the website as that becomes clear.

We got recognized J

In 2007, NTN was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for our commitment, along with those of other Green Power Partners, to help reduce the risks associated with climate change by supporting technologies that are more sustainable for businesses and communities. In addition, the State of Maine Certified us as an Environmental Leader because of our commitment to sustainable practices, including solar power, composting, renewable heat sources, and non-toxic cleaning products. The 2 cabins, meeting house and residential cabin are off grid, using solar power and a micro-hydro generator from the mountain brook on site for our alternative energy sources.

After testing out this lifestyle for 3 years, I am ready to share the lessons learned, the hows and the why's...In the works will be Simple and Sustainable Living Workshops for you to learn what you can do as a homeowner, renter and consumer to save $, save natural resources, and help to save the polar icecap all at the same time!
